PKS Asks For Different Transportation Tariffs For DKI Residents And Outside Regions Not Implemented

The PKS faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD asked the DKI Provincial Government not to implement a plan to adjust the Transjakarta tariff, which is distinguished between residents with Jakarta ID cards and outside the region.

This was stated by a member of the PKS faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Solikhah, in the general view document of the faction of the draft regional regulation regarding the 2024 DKI Jakarta APBD.

"The PKS faction asks that the implementation of integrated tickets for the use of public transportation in Jakarta is not distinguished between Jakarta residents and residents outside Jakarta," said Solikhah, quoted on Tuesday, October 10.

Currently, the DKI Provincial Government is reviewing the implementation of the account based ticketing (ABT) system or account-based tickets on Transjakarta, Jakarta LRT, and Jakarta MRT modes. In the system, there is a plan to differentiate tariffs according to the economic status and ID cards of each passenger.

According to Solikhah, the difference in tariffs will actually make residents living in buffer areas switch to using private vehicles when doing mobility in Jakarta because transportation costs generally become more expensive.

"As a result, efforts to reduce the use of private vehicles and reduce congestion have become ineffective," said Solikhah.

After all, continued Solikhah, residents outside Jakarta who work and are active in Jakarta also contribute to the Jakarta economy through their consumption and spending in Jakarta so that they become part of tax revenues for Jakarta.

Previously, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, emphasized that the difference in Transjakarta tariff adjustments according to economic status and the ID cards of each passenger would not be implemented in the near future.

"For the initial stage, what is important now is the benefit of using ABT, how to make people whose balances are usually lost and so on, this is there first," said Syafrin at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, September 25.

In the early stages, the DKI Provincial Government runs this system to make it easier for users to pay for public transportation tickets, especially those using electronic money cards (KUE).

The ABT system, continued Syafrin, does not only apply to Transjakarta users. This application will also be implemented at the Jakarta MRT and Jakarta LRT.

"Users, usually if you use a card and card, the balance is also lost. Well, with account based ticketing, if the card is lost, the balance is still stored in the application. So when he wants to change the card, he just needs to put it back in the person again for the card," explained Syafrin.
