Ogah Jadi Ketum PDIP, Jokowi Sarankan Trah Soekarno Puan Atau Prananda

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo admitted that he did not want to be the General Chair of the PDI-P (PDIP). This answers the suggestion that he replaces Megawati Soekarnoputri from the position of Chairman of the PDIP.

Jokowi has served as President of Indonesia for two terms, namely 2014-2019 and 2019-2024. After leaving his position, Jokowi claimed that he was no longer eyeing political positions and would return to his hometown.

"Not yet. I want to retire back to Solo," Jokowi said when met after the TNI's 78th Anniversary Ceremony at the National Monument Field (Monas), Jakarta, Thursday, October 5. Compared to himself, Jokowi actually proposed a younger generation to lead the PDIP. "There are many young ones. (There are) Mbak Puan (Maharani), Mas Prananda (Prabowo)," said Jokowi, referring to the two children of the PDIP Ketum Megawati Soekarnoputri. Puan Maharani is known to be the Chair of the PDIP DPP, while Prananda plays the role of the PDIP DPP Chair for Creative Economy for the period 2019-2024. The discourse about Jokowi being proposed to become the PDIP chairman was conveyed by Guntur Soekarnoputra, who is the eldest son of the first President of the Republic of Indonesia Soekarno, as well as the older brother of Megawati. In addition to proposing Jokowi as chairman, he voiced the proposal for Megawati to become the party supervisory board bearing the white bull symbol. Responding to the proposal, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said his party was focusing on winning the 2024 election. The new PDIP general chairman change will be determined at the congress scheduled for 2025.

Hasto further said that the Soekarno family breed still has a strong position to become the next general chairman. According to him, PDIP needs a strong figure and has ties to lower-level cadres during the transitional government in 2024. Hasto also believes that Megawati and her family still have these criteria.
