Head of the Garut Police Satpolairud AKP Anang Sonjaya said his party received reports of fishermen who needed evacuation assistance because they complained of illness and shortness of breath.

The family, he said, was not willing to do an autopsy on the victim's body, but chose to immediately carry out a funeral.
