Gerindra Respect Megawati's Decision To Close Prabowo-Ganjar Duet Meeting In The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - The daily chairman of the Gerindra Party DPP, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, admitted that his party respects the statement by PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri who is reluctant to make Ganjar Pranowo the vice presidential candidate accompanying Prabowo Subianto. Megawati's attitude in closing the meeting of the possible Prabowo-Ganjar duet in the 2024 presidential election was conveyed at the PDIP IV National Working Meeting in Jakarta. "And ahead of the registration which is not much longer, let us concentrate together to prepare everything for the smooth running of the presidential election," he continued.

Dasco said that each party had made choices regarding the presidential and vice presidential candidates. So according to him, it is better for political parties to concentrate on shady contestation so that the 2024 election can run well and smoothly.

The deputy chairman of the DPR ensured that until now the Gerindra and PDIP relations were still going well. So, Dasco assessed that there was no problem even though Megawati did not want Ganjar to have a duet with Prabowo.

"I think relations with PDIP are still fine, we are still in the same government coalition at this time, and with our PDIP friends in parliament there is also good communication so there is no problem," said Dasco.

Regarding when the Forward Indonesia Coalition announced Prabowo's vice presidential candidate, Dasco emphasized that this was the business of the general chairmen of political parties.

"I can't answer that, the determination of the last minute vice presidential candidate or then it could be tomorrow or the day after tomorrow because it fluctuates and I said earlier that the issue of probing the vice presidential candidate was immediately handled by the chairman of the coalition party," he said.

Including the question of whether the name of the Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir and Mahfud MD are included in the Prabowo vice-presidential exchange or not.
