Bawaslu Sleman Monitors Potential Government Assistance To Be Dompleted For The 2024 Legislative Campaign

SLEMAN - The Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of Sleman Regency, supervises the possibility of distributing government assistance which is used for the benefit of political parties or political parties as well as legislative candidates (caleg) for the 2024 General Election.

"The distribution of government assistance to the community, such as social assistance (bansos) and other assistance in the form of money and goods is certainly very vulnerable to sharing interests ahead of the 2024 General Election," said Head of Bawaslu Sleman Regency, Arjuna AI Siregar, in Sleman, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), Wednesday, September 27, confiscated by Antara.

According to him, they have prepared tiered supervision from the village level to the district level to the potential distribution of government assistance which is implemented for the benefit of political parties and legislative candidates.

"We will pay attention to the process of distributing the aid. For example, there are members of thearau legislative party who are present at the delivery of aid activities, we will see what their presence capacity is and whether there is an invitation or direction to choose or vote or not," he said.

He said that currently there has been no determination of the legislative candidates, but they will still supervise these activities.

"For example, there is a balaleg who is the wife or husband or family of a government official who is also present or accompanying during the delivery of government assistance. We will pay close attention to the urgency of his presence and monitor whether there is a potential violation or not in accordance with the Election Law," he said.

Arjuna said, including if there are legislative members who, for example, are in recess and present during the delivery or distribution of government assistance in an area, they will also be monitored.

"Of course, we continue to monitor incidents like this where social assistance is prone to misuse for campaign purposes during the election," he said.

He said, as a supervisor and as the executor of the mandate of the law, of course, incidents related to misuse of social assistance have attracted Bawaslu's attention, including reviewing and determining whether there were violations of the Election Law there.
