ACEH BANDA - A number of wild elephants damaged community plantations in the interior of Panggong Village, Aceh Jaya Regency, which resulted in heavy damage to the residents' huts.

"The elephant entered the garden on Monday night (25/9). Many plants were damaged, there were durian trees, jengkol, and even the huts were also damaged," said resident of the garden owner, Rasyidin in Aceh Jaya, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 26.

Rasyidin said that the wild elephants that damaged the residents' crops were estimated to be 20 and that included a large herd.

"We are heading for the gold mountain, precisely in the elephant monitoring tower, if we collect all of them, the damaged area will reach approximately two hectares," he said.

Rasyidin hopes that the Aceh Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) and the local government can help dispel the elephant so that it does not return to residents' plantations.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Aceh Jaya BKSDA Resort, Supriadi, said that his party had received information regarding wild elephants that entered and damaged the plants of the residents of Panggong Village, Krueng Sabee District.

The news from one of the local residents, he said, asked the BKSDA to provide a marcon to far away the herd of wild elephants.

"They asked for a marcon and for the time being we gave the marcon to the farmers, hopefully, the elephant can return to its habitat after being driven by a marcon," said Supriadi.
