Saudi Arabia Also Must Get Similar Weapons If Israel Gets Nuclear Bombs, This Is Prince MBS's Explanation

JAKARTA - Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) criticized Iran's nuclear program, saying his country also wants to have the same thing if Tehran acquires nuclear weapons, in an interview on US television.

Iran is known to be Israel's'common enemy' and Saudi Arabia in the region, as well as the United States. The three countries fear Iran is capable of possessing nuclear weapons, although Tehran has denied seeking such weapons.

"It was a bad move," Prince MBS told Fox News broadcast on Wednesday.

"If you use it, you will face major opposition to the rest of the world," Prince MBS continued.

If Iran will actually receive a nuclear bomb, Saudi Arabia, according to him, should obtain a similar weapon.

"If they get it, we have to get it, for reasons of security and balance of power in the Middle East," Prince MBS said.

"But we don't want to see that," he said.

Prince MBS issued a stern warning to Tehran, although the two countries agreed in talks brokered by China in March to restore relations after years of hostility.

However, he did not close the door to Iran, saying the two countries had made a good start and he hoped it would continue.

US President Joe Biden, in a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday in New York, reiterated that Iran should not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.
