Commission II Of The House Of Representatives Approves The Registration Schedule For Presidential And Vice Presidential Candidates October 19-25

JAKARTA - Commission II of the DPR together with the Ministry of Home Affairs, KPU, Bawaslu, and DKPP approved the option regarding the registration schedule for presidential candidates (candidates) and vice presidential candidates for the 2024 General Election on 19-25 October 2023.

The option contained in the draft General Election Commission (PKPU) Regulation on the Candidacy for the General Election of the President and Vice President was agreed upon in a consultation meeting quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 20.

"So 19 to 25 October do we agree? Okay," said Chairman of Commission II of the DPR Ahmad Doli Kurnia while leading the meeting.

The question was then answered agreeing by all members of Commission II of the DPR who were present, including the Government represented by the Director General of Politics and General Government (Polpum) of the Ministry of Home Affairs Bahtiar.

"Very agree," said Bahtiar.

Previously, the approval question was asked of two KPU proposal options related to the registration schedule for the presidential and vice-presidential candidates, namely 19-25 October 2023 or 10-16 October 2023.

In addition to the PKPU draft on the Nomination of Participants in the General Election of the President and Vice President which contains a schedule for registering presidential and vice presidential candidates, the meeting also agreed on two other PKPU designs, namely the PKPU draft on Voting and Counting in General Elections, and the PKPU draft on Amendments to PKPU Number 15 of 2023 concerning the General Election Campaign.

The meeting also approved two draft Election Supervisory Body (Perbawaslu) regulations, namely the Draft Bawaslu on Supervision, Procurement, and Distribution of Voting Equipment, Other Equipment Support, and Other Voting Equipment in General Elections, as well as the Draft Bawaslu on General Election Campaign Supervision.

Furthermore, the meeting also approved two drafts of the Honorary Council of Election Organizers (DKPP) RI, namely the draft DKPP RI Regulation on the Official Script, as well as the draft DKPP RI Regulation on DKPP Experts.

"With a note that the Indonesian KPU, the Indonesian Bawaslu pay attention to suggestions and input from members of Commission II of the DPR RI, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the DKPP RI," explained the meeting conclusion.
