BATULICIN - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning of coastal flooding or tidal waves that could potentially be in the waters of Kotabaru and Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan (Kalsel) on 17-22 September 2023.

"Based on BMKG South Kalimantan data, the maximum tide has the potential to occur in the Kotabaru Regency area at around 18.00-22.00 WITA with a maximum height of 2.7 meters," said Head of the Disaster Emergency Sub Division at BPBD Tanah Bumbu Mukhtar Halim in Batulicin, Sunday, September 17.

He said the affected areas are the waters of Kotabaru Regency and Tanah Bumbu, which have the potential to disrupt the daily activities of the community and transportation around ports and coasts, such as loading and unloading activities at ports, activities in coastal settlements, and land fisheries.

Mukhtar also asked coastal communities to always be vigilant to anticipate the impact of the maximum tide of sea water and tidal phenomena.

In addition, BMKG predicts the potential for moderate to heavy rain in three districts on September 17, 2023, starting at 08.30 WITA.

"That is Kotabaru Regency, Barito Kuala, and Tanah Bumbu Regency," he said as quoted by Antara.

Districts in Kotabaru Regency that are affected by rain include East Sea Island District, North Sea Island, Kelumpang Hulu, South Pamukan, Durian River, Central Sea Island, Kelumpang Hilir, West Kelumpang.

Meanwhile, in Barito Kuala Regency, the potential for rain is in Tabunganen, Tamban, and Mekarsari Districts. Then in Tanah Bumbu Regency, it includes Kusan Hulu District and its surroundings. This can extend to Kotabaru Region, Sampanahan, North Pamukan, Hampang,
