The Syuro Council Will Decide Support To Cak Imin After PKB Visits PKS

JAKARTA - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) will determine its attitude regarding support for the General Chairperson of the PKB, Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin as the vice presidential candidate accompanying Anies Baswedan through a meeting of the Syuro assembly deliberation. However, the meeting will be held after Cak Imin and his staff visit the PKS DPP office.

"Untuk penetapan capres-cawapres itu kewenangan majelis syuro, nanti akan digunakan setelah Cak Imin berkunjung dan akan segera dibahas," ujar juru bicara PKS Muhammad Iqbal kepada wartawan di Jakarta, Jumat, 8 September.

Currently, the shuro assembly meeting has not yet started so there has been no decision.

"But what is clear is that we welcome PKB who have joined the coalition of change," said Iqbal.

Iqbal admitted that he did not know the schedule for Cak Imin's arrival to PKS. However, he said the meeting would be held in the near future after the PKB chairman finished his pilgrimage.

"From the results of the communication, God willing, it will be scheduled in the near future after Cak Imin makes a visit to the guardian's pilgrimage and to the kiai. That's the result of communication, maybe (next week, ed), I don't know for sure," said Iqbal.

On the other hand, PKB is still waiting for official support from PKS for Cak Imin as a readwapres assistant to Anies Baswedan. This is the reason PKB has not made a visit to the PKS DPP office which is a member of the Coalition for Change and Unity (KPP).

"Until now, we don't have the support from PKS yet. So if there is support from PKS, it means that we are in the PKB coalition with NasDem, we will stay in touch with PKS," said PKB DPP Chair Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal in Cikini, Jakarta, Thursday, September 7.

Cucun explained that PKS support was only addressed to Anies Baswedan. Meanwhile, regarding his assistant, PKS is still waiting for the results of the syuro assembly (MMS) deliberation.

"In the past, with NasDem, support was running for Mr. Anies, and we also heard that what was released was that his support was given to Mr. Anies, who Mr. Muhaimin would follow," he said.

Cucun assessed that PKB should wait for the internal PKS mechanism to be completed and then schedule a visit time.

"Don't let us go there, the mechanisms that are internally have not been completed. So we are waiting for how the mechanism that was conveyed earlier has been completed, then we will visit it," said Cucun.
