Police Take Action On 6,853 Vehicles Due To Traffic Violations, One Of Them Is Against The Flow

JAKARTA - A total of 6,853 two- and four-wheeled vehicles have been ticketed by the West Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit.

West Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Head AKBP Mokhamad Sigit Purwanto said the thousands of vehicles that were ticketed were the result of operations from June-August 2023.

"From June, July, August (2023), the existing violations were ticketed by the West Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit, which was 6,583 vehicles," he said when confirmed, Wednesday, September 6.

The drivers were ticketed because they were proven to have violated traffic rules. The types of violations that occur include not wearing a helmet, not carrying vehicle equipment such as letters, and also violating traffic signs.

"The majority of violations are because they are against the flow of motorbikes," he said.

AKBP Sigit said the violations that occurred were due to low public awareness regarding traffic rules. The reason is, many motorists are found who are still determined to fight the flow. Even though the opponents of the flow are very dangerous for other motorists.

"Actually, the discipline of the community itself, if there are officers they are orderly, the officers are left 5 minutes later they will commit violations," he said.

Furthermore, AKBP Sigit explained that his party had made efforts in the form of socialization related to traffic rules to the public. In fact, socialization is carried out to schools with the aim of providing education from an early age.

He appealed to the public to order traffic. Because safety is in the hands of the motorist himself.

"Traffic accidents started with violations, so it's underlined that. For example, against the current, it's very dangerous, that's the path of people, what if they grab it?," he said.
