No Longer Useful, Thousands Of Archives Destroyed By DKI Dispakrekraf

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf) destroyed thousands of archival files that no longer had use value. This is done in order to support administrative activities.

The head of the DKI Jakarta Disparekraf, Andhika Permata, revealed that the destruction of the arisp was carried out with the aim of reducing the number of physical files that were no longer used.

"The destruction of files also avoids a buildup in every room," Andhika said in a written statement, quoted on Tuesday, September 5.

Andhika said, the details of the extermination activities in the Kersipan unit of the DKI Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, whose retention is under 10 years old, were determined by the head of the creator or organizer of the regional government.

"The DKI Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency has carried out archival assessment activities in October 2022," he said.

Andhika claims that the destruction of this archive has also received written approval from the regional head based on the letter from the Governor of DKI Jakarta Province Number 464/KA 02.04 regarding the approval of the destruction of the archives on August 15, 2023.

Furthermore, Andhika said, the archives that will be destroyed are 1,356 obtained in the period from 2011 to 2017.

"Officient destruction activities must be witnessed by elements of the Inspectorate and legal sections as supervisors, elements of regional archives institutions and Archives Creation Units," he said.

He added that the results of the extermination activities would later be carried out by the Minutes of Destruction and documented and reported to the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI).

"All the results created from this activity are vital archives that must continue to be stored by the Archives Creators as long as the DKI Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Service is still running," added Andhika.
