Team Eight Finalized Anies Vice Presidential Candidate In Pacitan, East Java

PACITAN - The Democrat Party acknowledged that there had been a meeting with "Tim Eight" along with the Presidential Decree Anies Baswedan on the sidelines of preparing for the inauguration of the SBY*ANI Monument and Gallery in Pacitan, East Java, Thursday, August 17.

"Yes, it turned out that and the progress did have a meeting with friends in team eight. We did not deny that. There was a meeting and discussion. And it turned out that Mas Anies was willing to attend," said Head of the Democratic Party DPP Strategic Communication Agency (Bakomstra) Herzaky Mahendra Putra, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 18.

He mentioned the agenda outside the context of the inauguration of the SBY*ANI museum. The initiative emerged spontaneously because members of Team Eight, who incidentally were AHY's friends (Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono), were invited to the museum inauguration and met in Pacitan.

The opportunity was then used to hold small meetings and discussions on the right plans and momentum to announce the Presidential Decree Anies, which was originally proposed by PKS on August 17, along with the commemoration of Indonesian Independence Day.

But with various considerations, the coalition agreed to postpone the announcement schedule with tactical-political considerations.

Meanwhile, continued Herzaky, Anies' previous agenda was quite solid. However, when the invitation was offered, the schedule was still possible to arrange.

"Because we were active if I'm not mistaken in Yogja yesterday," he said.

Herzaky realized that the public could not wait for the declaration of the Presidential Decree-Readwapres for the coalition formed by Nasdem, the Democratic Party, and PKS.

This, he said, was only a matter of time and Anies would fully determine. He was also reluctant to speculate about the certainty of the day and date.

"The three of us, there are Democrats, Nasdem, and PKS, so that it is getting tighter, the map is getting clearer, what else is expected. It's just a matter of how we consolidate internally," said Herzaky.

Regarding who was chosen to be the vice president who will accompany Anies, Herzaky ensured that there had been an agreement and mutual understanding between the coalition and Anies Baswedan. His choice has narrowed one name.

However, regarding the announcement and when the time was deemed appropriate to convey it to the public, it became the domain of Anies Baswedan always reading the presidents carried by the Democratic Party, Nasdem and PKS coalitions.

He signaled that the announcement of the Democratic vice president was sure it would be soon.

"We have also agreed that we will definitely wait from Mas Anies, in Jakarta," he said. The registration of presidential and vice presidential candidates is scheduled for October 19, 2023 to November 25, 2023.

Based on Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of the nationally valid votes in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. It could also be that the candidate pairs are promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
