GROBOKAN - The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Grobogan Regency, Central Java, distributed tens of thousands of liters of clean water to a number of villages in Grobogan Regency that were affected by drought.
"Until now, there have been 25 villages that have submitted requests for clean water droppings because many residents have difficulty getting clean water," said Head of PMI Regency Headquarters Grobogan Djasman in Grobogan, Antara, Friday, August 11.
Due to the long dry season, many residents have difficulty getting clean water because the well they have has dried up.
Residents themselves, he said, are looking for other water sources by making sacks or holes in the dry river, as well as looking for water sources to other areas even though the distance is quite far.
For this reason, PMI Grobogan Regency rushed to drop clean water into the drought-affected area by operating a tank truck with a capacity of 5,000 liters and deploying three officers every day, consisting of staff and volunteers.
He also assigned staff to directly monitor areas experiencing clean water difficulties to ensure current conditions.
The droping of clean water to areas affected by drought, he said, has been going on since July 24, 2023 until now.
Head of Service and Partnership for PMI Grobogan Regency, Gesit Kristyawan, added that clean water shipments reached two tank trucks or 10,000 liters per day.
"With so many areas affected by drought, we still need additional fleets because currently only one tank truck is owned by PMI Grobogan Regency," he said.
He hopes to get fleet assistance from PMI Central Java Province or PMI Center so that it can reach residents and be served by clean water needs.
"We also want to invite institutions or organizations or companies to help residents who experience difficulties in clean water in mutual cooperation," he said.
