PALANGKA RAYA - The Forest and Land Fire Task Force (Satgas Karhutla) team in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan is struggling to extinguish 1.43 hectares of forest and land fires using available equipment.

Palangka Raya Police Chief Kombes Budi Santosa said the task force team extinguished the 1.43 hectares of forest and land fires located on Jalan Karya HApakat, Petuk Katimpun Village, Jekan Raya District and personnel in the field struggled with the equipment that had been provided.

"So it is true, we from the Karhutla Task Force Team a few moments ago have extinguished the blaze that occurred in Petuk Katimpun Village, Jekan Raya District, precisely on Jalan Karya HApakat and currently the condition has been extinguished," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, August 10.

Meanwhile, local Village Bhabinkamtibmas personnel Aida Azis Nugroho said the forest and land fires could be tamed.

"For this incident, we appeal to all levels of society not to become perpetrators in forest and land fires cases. Remember that nature preservation is our common responsibility," he explained.

Forest and land fires in Palangka Raya City are said to often occur. Luckily, the incident was handled well by the Karhutla Task Force team, which had been alert in anticipating this matter.

"Because if this is not anticipated or allowed, many people in the local area will suffer losses, one of which is health losses, even the wheels of the community's economy will also be disrupted," said Azis Nugroho.
