SLEMAN - A joint team of the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) of Sleman Regency together with the Customs and Excise of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) confiscated 1,333 cigarettes while controlling illegal tobacco excisable goods in Sidoarum, Godean.

"The control is carried out to enforce regulations regarding the budget for tobacco excise revenues, especially in Sleman Regency," said a representative from DIY Customs and Excise, Pamadi, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 9.

According to him, the control, which is also supported by the Sleman Kodim and the Sleman Police, as many as 1,333 cigarettes that do not have excise, was confiscated from two points where grocery stores were searched.

"In this control, several white cigarette wrappers and machine-handed cigarettes were found, which do not have excise stamps from the two points of the control location in Godean," he said.

The findings were later confiscated, and the sellers will follow up in the form of summons for further examination at the office.

"There may be two alternatives, namely a criminal process, or an ultimum remedium administrative fine process, which is that the completion is not carried out investigation," he said.

For the amount of the fine, DIY Customs and Excise imposed a fine of three times the value of excise per evidence confiscated.

"For example, for white cigarettes, the engine is Rp. 710 per stick. If one pack can be around Rp. 14,000, then multiplied by three. So it can be around Rp. 40 thousand per pack. Earlier there were around 40-50 packs, so it could be worth millions of fines," he said.

Customs and Excise urges the public not to sell illegal tobacco without excise, because DIY Customs will continue to tighten.

"DIY is a marketing area. We urge stall owners not to sell, so they don't get fines. If they don't sell, they won't receive from sales, they will automatically affect factories that won't produce anymore," he said.

Head of the Enforcement Section for Enforcement of Legislations of Satpol PP Sleman Pambudi said Satpol PP Sleman continues to disseminate information to traders to understand the provisions for this tobacco excisable goods (BKCHT).

"Don't try to sell it, it will definitely cause problems later," he said.
