DKI Affirms No Neutral Gender Toilets At Jakarta Schools, But International Schools Need Coordination For Checking

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government emphasized that there are no neutral gender toilets for schools in the capital, as mentioned by one of the initial programs (podcasts). This was confirmed after the Education Office conducted an examination from kindergarten, elementary, junior high, high school, vocational, and equivalent levels.

"We have checked all educational units in DKI Jakarta (regional or private) and apparently did not find a neutral gender toilet, there are men's and women's toilets," said Acting Head of the DKI Jakarta Education Office, Purwosusilo, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 8.

Previously, artist Daniel Mananta in the broadcast program mentioned the existence of a neutral gender toilet in an international school in Jakarta.

Related to this, Purwosusilo said that for international schools or schools, his party still needs time to collect data because its authority lies with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology and various parties.

"However, because this is in the DKI Jakarta area, we are also investigating it. We are checking and ongoing. So far we have not found anything like that. That means, clear, there are only two toilets for men and for women," said Purwosusilo.

This means that, said Purwosusilo, his party also needs time because it needs coordination with various parties when it comes to international schools.

"What is clear is that in kindergarten, elementary, junior high, high school, SMK there are only two toilets, namely men and women," said Purwosusilo.

Previously, Daniel admitted that he was a little surprised when he saw the three-gender toilet.

"I came, I went to the reception there, there was already a toilet for boys, girls or girls, and a neutral gender or something. It said there was gender neutral," said Daniel.
