Appeal Rejected, Inspector General Teddy Minahasa Fired From The Police

JAKARTA - The National Police rejected the appeal filed by Inspector General Teddy Minahasa. The former West Sumatra Police Chief was still sanctioned for dishonorable dismissal or dismissal (PTDH).

"Rejecting the appeal," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan in his statement, Friday, August 4.

The rejection of Teddy Minahasa's appeal was based on the decision of the Police Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP) which was held on Friday, August 4.

The decision also confirmed the sanctions for dismissal which had been handed down at the trial on May 30, 2022.

The former West Sumatra Police Chief was deemed to have violated the rules because of his involvement in the circulation of methamphetamine.

"We have ordered AKBP DP, who at that time served as the Head of the Bukit Tinggi Police, to set aside evidence of the type of methamphetamine from the results of the disclosure of narcotics trafficking," he said.

"After successfully being set aside, then sold through the acquaintance of the violator named sister LP alias A," continued Ramadhan.

For information, Teddy Minahasa's legal efforts in the criminal process also failed. This is because the panel of judges at the DKI Jakarta High Court upheld the sentence of life imprisonment for him.

The verdict was read by Judge Sirande Palayukan at the trial which was not attended by the defendant or former West Sumatra Police Chief.

"Strengthening the decision of the West Jakarta District Court number 96/Pid.Sus/2023/PN Jkt.Brt dated May 9, 2023, which was requested for the appeal," said Chief Judge Sirande Palayukan.

In its decision, Teddy Minahasa is considered proven to have violated Article 114 paragraph (2) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.
