Electric Bikes Should Not Pass On Highways

TANGERANG - The phenomenon of using electric bicycles is increasingly rampant, even dominated by children. Therefore, the Tangerang Police Traffic Unit appealed to the use of electric bicycles not to do activities on the highway.

"Electric bicycles are actually not allowed on the highway, because it can only be in certain areas," said Head of Gakum Satlantas Tangerang Police AKP Sitta Sitga Sagala in his statement, Friday, August 4.

According to him, the phenomenon of electric bicycle users in his area is now starting to get busy and the users are dominated by school children and adults. Therefore, it takes the role of the community to remember electric bicycle users.

"So we see that at this time the children are already busy using electric bicycles. That's why it must be handled immediately," he said.

On the occasion, Sitta revealed that the use of this electric bicycle should be in certain areas such as closed tourism, home pages, and in small alley areas. Because, if forced by public roads or flat roads, it will be a problem in endangering other motorists.

"So far, our traffic rules don't exist yet, we just have an existing law (motorcycle vehicle regulation). So even though we still have an understanding of whether the electric bicycle is included in the motorcycle category," he concluded.
