PAPUA - The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) reported that three districts were affected by drought in Puncak Regency, Central Papua Province.

Acting Director of Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims of the Ministry of Social Affairs Adrianus Alla said the three districts were Agandugume, Lambewi and Oneri.

"Two days we failed to fly to Sinak District due to weather problems, today we were only able to arrive there to deliver food aid," he said in Timika, Papua, Wednesday, July 26, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to him, his party was assisted by the TNI in distributing social assistance to the Sinak District and received additional information that it turned out that there was another district that was affected by the drought, namely Oneri.

"From Sinak District to get to Amandugume, Lambewi, and Oneri, people have to travel for two days to pick up foodstuffs," he said.

He explained that today there was a coordination meeting between the Puncak Regency Government (Pemkab) and various stakeholders to ensure security in the area.

"I saw that there was a very high sense of solidarity, so those who received it immediately divided for other districts, they together worked together to mobilize the community to carry goods," he said.

He added that in Sinak District there is a reservoir to store social assistance received, which will then be distributed to each district.

"The distance between districts takes days to pick up foodstuffs, so there a barn is prepared to store aid items," he concluded.
