The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has audited School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds and collected zakat at the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School led by Panji Gumilang. This step was taken in the investigation of alleged criminal acts of fraud and corruption.

"Implementing a coordination meeting with agencies related to the audit of BOS funds for the period 2022-2023 and an audit for the period 2017-2020," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, quoted on Wednesday, July 26.

Not only BOS funds, but the audit process was also carried out on allegations of collecting zakat funds by Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School and affiliated parties.

However, Bareskrim Polri investigators did not immediately intervene in this matter. This is because the audit process is carried out by the Ministry of Religion Inspectorate.

"In addition to the audit, an audit will be carried out on the alleged collection of zakat by Al Zaytun or affiliated parties," he said.

"(Audit) will be carried out by the Inspectorate General of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion, with the Directorate of Zakat Empowerment and the Deputy Minister of Religion," continued Ramadhan.

Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police found four criminal elements that were allegedly committed by Panji Gumilang related to the financial management of the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School. Starting from criminal acts of embezzlement to corruption.

"There are allegations of abuse that indicate criminal acts related to foundations, criminal acts of embezzlement, criminal acts of corruption in BOS funds, to criminal acts related to abuse in zakat management by PG brothers," said Ramadhan.
