Boats Experience Engine Disturbance, SAR Team Searches For Missing Fishermen

JAKARTA - The Search and Rescue Office of the Ternate Basarnas, North Maluku together with the SAR team conducted a search for a fisherman from Rua, Ternate City, who was reportedly swept away due to a longboat that was used while at sea experiencing engine failure.

Head of the Ternate Basarnas, Fathur Rahman in Ternate, Wednesday said the victim Hasan M. Kun (44 years old) disappeared when the longbat engine used to go to sea was off.

The chronology of the incident, on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at 04.00 WIT, the victim went to sea using a longboat from Akerica Beach to Rompong at 15.00 WIT.

Reporting from ANTARA, the victim contacted the family and reported that the longboat used experienced engine failure while fishing and then washed away.

At 20.00 WIT, the victim's family moved to the scene using two longboat units to conduct a search and confirm the whereabouts of the victim, but until this news was reported to Kansar Ternate the victim had not been found, then the victim's family asked for help from Basarnas.

After receiving the report, at 13.45 WIT, the Kansar Ternate Rescue Team was dispatched to LKP Duga using RIB 04 Ternate to carry out victim operations.

Meanwhile, the day before, Basarnas reported that the Sofifi-Ternate route speed boat had collided with a Wooden Motor on its way from Jailolo to Tidore.

"It is true, the speed boat carrying 10 passengers along with four crew members had an accident by hitting a wooden motorbike traveling from Ternate to Tidore, the incident was reported to the Ternate Search and Rescue Office from KSOP Ternate," he said.

According to the chronology of the incident received, on December 24, 2024, at 05.25 WIT, there had been a ship accident, the Jailolo - Tidore route was hit by a Speedboat from the direction of Sofifi.

He explained that at around 05.35 WIT, the Kansar Ternate Rescue Team was dispatched to the location using RIB 04 Ternate.

At 05.59 WIT, the team arrived at the scene and managed to find a speedboat and a wooden motorbike involved in the collision.

All passengers have been evacuated by a speed boat involved in a collision to the port of the Ternate ant fleet in a safe condition.
