Surabaya City Government Distributes Free School Uniforms To 7,000 Students

SURABAYA - The Surabaya City Government distributed uniforms and school shoes to 7,000 students receiving the Tough Youth Scholarship in the city of Surabaya, East Java.

"Everything is free, uniforms and free shoes," said Head of the Surabaya Family Welfare Empowerment Mobilization Team (TP PKK) Rini Indriyani when handing over uniforms and school shoes to a number of student representatives at the Youth Center, Surabaya City, East Java, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 25.

Recipients of the Youth Tangguh Scholarship are residents with Surabaya ID cards who sit in high school/SMK Negeri and private. In addition to distributing uniforms and shoes, students also receive tuition assistance worth Rp. 200 thousand each month.

"I hope this can trigger the enthusiasm of the children to be diligent in studying, studying, and improving achievements," said Rini who is also the wife of the Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi.

In its implementation, the distribution of uniforms and school shoes was held from July 24, 2023 to July 28, 2023. Where, the uniforms and school shoes distributed were the result of the production of Surabaya City MSMEs through the Labor Intensive Program.

"So that the economy in the city of Surabaya can continue to rotate. Intensive MSMEs can produce uniforms and shoes, so they can earn income. Hopefully, this benefit for our students will also continue to rotate in Surabaya," he said.

TP PKK chairman Rini Indriyani revealed that the distribution of uniforms and school shoes was a form of synergy and mutual cooperation between the Surabaya City Government and the community in the City of Heroes.

"The basis is to help each other and work together, how do we help people who are less capable of buying uniforms," he said.

Therefore, Rini advised students who received the Resilient Youth Scholarship, although there were limitations, they should not hinder success.

Meanwhile, Ayu Wulandari, a resident of Sawahan Subdistrict, Surabaya, expressed her gratitude to the Surabaya City Government for providing a very useful uniform as motivation to be diligent in studying and schooling.

"I got one gray white uniform, scout uniform, white and black socks, and school shoes," he said.

The distribution of uniforms and shoes carried out by the Surabaya City Government is currently the implementation of the second wave. Where in the first wave in June 2023, it has distributed to 8,000 recipients of the Resilient Youth Scholarship.
