JAKARTA - Secretary General (Secretary General) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) Suhajar Diantoro asked the state civil apparatus (ASN) to be neutral in facing the 2024 Simultaneous Elections and Pilkada.

"Employees do not need to be afraid to work professionally, including to be neutral in facing the 2024 General Election and Regional Head Elections," Suhajar said in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 25.

He explained that the direction of the politics of the 2024 Simultaneous Elections and Regional Head Elections is to strengthen the presidential system. This is in order to synchronize between the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) program and the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).

"Based on the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) so that elections, political parties, and president are in line. So together certain parties fight for the president and his DPR. If the president is supported by a certain party and the DPR is strong, then strengthen the presidential system, that is the direction of the simultaneous election law politics decided by the Constitutional Court," he said.

Suhajar hopes that alumni of the Institute of Domestic Administration (IPDN) will be able to face global challenges, as well as become professional ASN. This is because the education system at IPDN has taught various positive values such as the importance of maintaining discipline, manners, ethics, and integrity.

"This is our choice, work well according to our choices, must be neutral and professional at work," said Suhajar.

Not only that, the IPDN Purnapraja must be able to be a pioneer in supporting government administration. IPDN alumni are specially educated to understand conditions in the field, especially in the field of government.

He hopes that the retired people can serve the community and carry out bureaucratic duties well.

"If you choose (to be) a praja, then you have to be a prestige, then you have to serve, if you don't want to serve, don't be a pamong, you have to work on this praja, so our conclusion, you can't be arrogant, you have to be loyal, you don't have a merchant character, don't ever get that position," added Suhajar.

Suhajar emphasized that IPDN's retirement is required to be responsive in providing more integrated public services according to the needs of the community. In the era of people who are increasingly digital, there are greater demands for the speed of public services.

"This condition is a challenge for ASN in providing digital technology-based services according to the times," he said.

"Today everyone wants to be served digitally, so what if you don't build digital services, if you don't accommodate digital government, then what do you want to be, you can't, you have to beat digitalization," he said.

Suhajar assessed that currently public services are faced with changes in various fields of social life. For this reason, the government is required to be ready to face global challenges triggered by change and progress, especially in the field of technology.

"That's the modern world now, that's your challenge today, if you can solve it and help your area, then you will be able to continue to play a role as a role. That's my message that the challenges of the future and the future of today and the future, the bureaucracy is to change or transform the government into an effective public service organization," he concluded.
