JAKARTA - As of July 1, Jakarta MRT users were no longer able to buy train tickets using the GoPay, OVO, DANA, and LinkAja digital wallet platforms. Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, explained the cause.

Syafrin said that the cooperation contract period between MRT Jakarta as a regional-owned enterprise (BUMD) of DKI and the four e-wallets had ended. However, the four digital wallets did not agree with the new cooperation contract, so it was not extended.

"Regarding the payment system for the e-wallet of OVO, GoPay, LinkAja, DANA which does not apply to the MRT starting today July 1, 2023, this is purely because there is no business agreement between MRT and the four digital wallet providers. So that the contract is not extended as of July 1, 2023," Syafrin told reporters, Sunday, July 2.

In principle, Syafrin said that MRT Jakarta will continue to open options for the continuation of cooperation as long as it is in accordance with the provisions that have been running with previous cooperation.

"For the Jakarta MRT and the public, the more payment options, the easier it will be for the community. However, we still respect the decisions and considerations of the e-wallet partners," he explained.

Meanwhile, payment services that can still be used by Jakarta MRT users are through the MRT-J application, namely AstraPay, i.Saku, and blu. GoPay, Ovo, Dana, and LinkAja cannot be used.

Then, the payment system also applies to multiple cruising cards (multitrips), single trip cards, and JakLingko. A number of bank electronic money cards such as BRIZZI, Flazz, e-money, tapcash, and JakCard can still be used.

For information, MRT Jakarta operates at 05.00-24.00 WIB on weekdays and 05.00-24.00 WIB on weekends. The headway or interval for departure between trains that is enforced is 5 minutes during peak hours and 10 minutes on normal hours on weekdays, as well as 10 minutes on weekends.
