Ethical Violations Were Not Found Although Leaks Of Investigation Documents Managed By Polda Metro Jaya, Tumpak: The Scope Room Is Different

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Council has invited Polda Metro Jaya to continue to investigate the leak of documents investigating alleged corruption at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources even though there were no ethical violations. There is a difference in scope so that the decision is not related to the current process.

"He said that the Regional Police had gone up to the investigation, right? I heard that too, yes, that's of course a different scope of cases," said Chairman of the KPK Supervisory Board Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean to reporters during a press conference at the KPK Building C1, Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Monday, June 19.

Polda Metro Jaya is engaged in the criminal space, said Tumpak. "It's not an ethical matter," he said.

Meanwhile, KPK Supervisory Board member Albertina Ho said the alleged leak of the investigation document could be reopened for ethical trial. However, there must be other sufficient evidence to prove the act.

"If later in the future there is other evidence, then there is enough evidence that is another problem," he said.

Polda Metro Jaya reportedly raised the status of the alleged leak of investigation documents at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to investigation. This case is said to have dragged the name of KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri.

A VOI source said this case had been investigated since Monday, June 12. This process began with the issuance of an investigation warrant (sprindik) numbered SP.Sidik/2207/VI/2023/Ditreskrimum.

"Many KPK employees have been examined," said the source when confirmed, Saturday, June 18.

Previously, the KPK Council stated that KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri had not violated ethics regarding the alleged leak of documents investigating alleged corruption at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. There are 30 people who have been questioned, including the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif.

Regarding this allegation, Firli has denied that he leaked the investigation documents to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. The allegations targeted by the KPK are corruption related to mining business permits (IUP).

"I have been a police officer for 38 years. I have never destroyed my career," Firli told reporters at the KPK's Red and White House, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, June 15.

This allegation strengthens after a report from the former KPK Director of Investigation Brigadier General Endar Priantoro. "So whatever people say, I make sure I never did that and I never give any documents to anyone," concluded Firli.
