Din Syamsuddin: My People Are Smart, Smart And People Who See Anies The Right Figure For Indonesia

JAKARTA - Former General Chairperson of Muhammadiyah Central Executive Din Syamsuddin said that smart intelligence or groups of people who have extensive knowledge sees Anies Baswedan's future presidential candidate as the right person to lead Indonesia.

"I think a lot of us, the clever, intelligent, and reasonable people see Anies Baswedan as the right figure for Indonesia in the future," said Din as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 23.

For this reason, he said, Indonesia needs intelligent and visionary leaders to deal with global geopolitical, geoeconomic, and geostrategic changes.

Not only that, the leader must be able to understand national ideals, be able to mobilize the potential of the Indonesian people, and be able to have dialogues with international circles.

"So this choice is the right choice (Anies Baswedan) and I hope it will come true," he said.

Din praised PKS' commitment not to insist on submitting a candidate for vice president (cawapres) to Anies Baswedan.

"In particular, I see the behavior of PKS regarding this presidential candidate placing it in one sincerity and 'legowo' so as not to force itself, forcing the desire to, say, seize the vice presidential candidate," he continued.

He revealed that in PKS itself there are several qualified and qualified names to fill that position. Din mentioned the names of Ahmad Syaikhu and Ahmad Heriawan.

"Even though in PKS, I know that many are of high quality, many are capable, both PKS President himself, Ustaz Ahmad Syaikhu, there is also Kang Aher," said Din.

Even so, said Din, PKS does not seem to want to force it regarding the figure of a candidate for vice president because there is a bigger interest than that.

"I welcome with appreciation and at the same time with the hope that PKS will remain in good faith according to its identity as a party that involves Islam," he said.
