JAKARTA - The Indonesian government is exploring cooperation with Vietnam for law enforcement cooperation related to digital spaces affiliated with the Crime of Trafficking in Persons (TPPO).

The collaboration also refers to the recent rise of online scams which led to TIP.

"This online activity is also used for TIP promotion. We also need to pay attention to it together. We already have a system, which needs to now be how to coordinate and collaborate between the two ministries Vietnam and Indonesia and multilateral cooperation and bilateral cooperation in ASEAN countries," said Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G. Plate in a press release, Thursday, May 11, confiscated by Antara.

According to Johnny, in terms of the perspective of utilization to law enforcement in Indonesia's digital space and Vietnam, it has a similar perspective.

The two countries consider that the state must be committed to jointly making digital spaces safe and comfortable for use by its people.

One of the preventive measures that the two countries already have to protect the digital space from cybercrime and illegal activities is monitoring with artificial intelligence.

"In Vietnam there is also equipment related to surveillance systems and crawling systems that monitor digital space, whether there are illegal and criminal acts in the digital space. Vietnam already has, Indonesia also has it now," he said.

He assessed that the surveillance system that the two countries have has made it easier for the potential for cooperation to cooperate with digital platforms, both operating in Indonesia and Vietnam.

Thus, if cooperation is established, if there are findings of violations or illegal activities related between the two countries, they can be completed more effectively.

"Well, what needs to be now is to increase more efficient and effective cooperation," said Johnny.

Regarding the online scam case and ending in the latest TIP case, 20 Indonesian citizens were rescued from an online scam company in Myawaddy, Myanmar.

A total of 20 Indonesian citizens have been rescued and returned to Indonesia, the National Police has also arrested the two perpetrators of the TIP on Tuesday, May 9.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that online TIP cases have become widespread in recent years and in the last three years, it has completed 1,841 cases.

This problem was found in Southeast Asia, with victims from Indonesia being found in several countries, namely Myanmar, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, and the Philippines.
