BandA ACEH - Six villages in Simpang Kanan District, Aceh Singkil Regency, were reported to have been flooded on Sunday 7 May, bringing Aceh flood data to eight districts/cities according to the Aceh Disaster Management Agency (BPBA) and 3,000 people affected.

"Flooding in Aceh Singkil began at 07.00 WIB," said BPBA Chief Executive Ilyas through a statement from the BPBA Disaster Management Operations Control Center (Pusdalops PB) quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, May 7.

He explained that the flood incident in Aceh Singkil caused residential areas in six villages in Simpang Kanan District to be submerged, with water levels between 60-80 centimeters.

For the time being, 355 people were affected in 293 families (KK). Meanwhile, the displaced residents are still being collected data on officers from the Aceh Singkil Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).

"The last condition is that the water is still inundating the Simpang Kanan area to date," said Ilyas.

Apart from Aceh Singkil, previously BPBA noted that floods also hit dozens of villages in seven regencies/cities in the Tanah Rencong area, namely Nagan Raya Regency, Southwest Aceh, West Aceh, South Aceh, Aceh Jaya, Southeast Aceh and Subulussalam City.

"The latest conditions are that some areas are still flooded, some have receded," said Ilyas.

Floods submerged 15 villages in five sub-districts in Nagan Raya, four villages in four sub-districts in Subulussalam, five villages in four sub-districts of Southwest Aceh Regency, and 19 villages in six sub-districts of West Aceh Regency.

Furthermore, 23 villages in six sub-districts in Aceh Jaya Regency, one village in one sub-district in Southeast Aceh, and 19 villages in six sub-districts in South Aceh.

"Water is still inundating the South Aceh region with a height of 30 cm to one meter," said Ilyas.

BPBD continues to monitor the impact of flooding that occurred in eight districts and cities and periodically convey disaster risk warnings to the public.
