BENGKULU - Tigers reportedly attacked cows belonging to residents in Gajah Makmur Village, Malin Deman District, Mukomuko Regency, Bengkulu Province, Saturday, April 1 evening. "This incident occurred on Saturday night at around 23.00 WIB," said Gajah Makmur Village Head Gutomo in a written statement received at Mukomuko, Antara, Sunday, April 2. Residents found the carcass of a cow suspected of being attacked by a tiger in an oil palm plantation area. Based on residents' information, the cows were probably attacked by two mother and cub tigers. "We ask the relevant parties so that this problem can be followed up immediately because the tiger is still at this location," he said. Head of the Conservation Section of Region I Bengkulu Natural Resources Conservation Center Said Jauhari when contacted said that conservation center officers would be deployed to conduct inspections at the scene. "Later (will be seen) whether we will make efforts by means of eviction or setting traps," he said regarding the plan to handle tigers reported to attack residents' cows. He said that parts of the Gajah Makmur Village and Lubuk Talang Village were areas that were often traversed by tigers. According to him, a task force (task force) has been formed to help monitor and report wildlife conflicts with humans that may occur in the area.

"We received reports related to tiger conflicts in this area from the task force," he said.
