90 Tons of Garbage Piled Up 500 Meters in Pisangan Tambun River, Transported by DLH Bekasi for 3 Days

BEKASI - The Bekasi Regency Environmental Service (DLH) transported as much as 90 tons of garbage that had piled up 500 meters long in the Pisangan River, Satria Mekar Village, Tambun Utara District, Bekasi Regency.

"The garbage we evacuated weighed more than 90 tons. We estimate the evacuation process itself will take approximately three days", said the Head of Regional Technical Implementation Unit II in the field of Environment (UPTD II DLH) Bekasi Regency, Sumardi, Tuesday, February 14, confiscated by Antara.

He said the evacuation process was carried out by 18 personnel from the Bekasi Regency Environment Service Biawak Team assisted by personnel from the West Java Provincial Water Resources Office.

The waste evacuation process is done manually considering the location is difficult to reach with heavy equipment. Garbage is first removed to the banks of the river to reduce water content and then transported to the Burangkeng TPA using dozens of garbage trucks that have been prepared.

Sumardi appealed to the public to participate in preserving the environment, especially the river flow around the house by not littering.

"The role of the community in protecting the environment is important so that the incident of this pile of garbage does not happen again", he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Tambun Utara Subur District BPD Forum said the piles of garbage in the Pisangan River flow were trash sent from other areas. This waste has the potential to trigger flooding during the rainy season.

"Garbage sent from the city of Bekasi, its existence is very disturbing to the surrounding community. If this continues, residents' settlements along the riverbanks can be flooded. Hopefully, all of this can be cleaned up soon", he stated.
