The Minimum Wage for Papua Province in 2023 is IDR 3.8 Million

JAKARTA - The Papua Provincial Government has decided that the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) will increase by 8.3 percent or IDR 302,764 to IDR 3,864,696. This figure is the result of the local Wage Council meeting last Thursday, November 24 in Bumi Cenderawasih.

The Head of the Papua Industry, Trade, Cooperative, MSMEs and Manpower Office, Omah Laduui Ladamay said the ratification of the SK (Decree) was signed by the Regional Secretary of the Papua Province Muhammad Ridwan Ruusukun who was accompanied by Assistant III for General Affairs Derek Hegemur and also the Head of the Papua Province Bapeda, Yohanes Walilo in the Secretary's office on Monday, November 28.

"The increase in the 2023 UMP is quite large, in which we and the Papua Provincial Wage Council held a joint meeting to produce a joint agreement", he said, Wednesday, November 30, quoted from Antara.

According to Laduui, the 8.3 percent UMP increase was a decision based on the results of the discussion, and the Papua Provincial Government through the Governor of Papua Lukas Enembe has approved the proposal, it is hoped that this will provide welfare for workers and employers, and of course for the future development of the Papuan economy.

"The 2023 UMP in Papua involves many parties including the Indonesian Employers' Association (Apindo), the All Indonesian Workers Union (SPSI), the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Cenderawasih University, and others", he said.

Previously, the Ministry of Manpower issued Minister of Manpower Regulation Number 18 of 2022 concerning the Determination of the Minimum Wage for 2023, one of which stipulates that the adjustment in the value of the minimum wage may not exceed 10 percent.

Based on the documents downloaded on the Legal Document and Information Network of the Ministry of Manpower in Jakarta, Friday, the Minister of Manpower (Menaker), Ida Fauziyah established the regulation, on 16 November 2022 and promulgated on 17 November 2022.
