KPK Is Asked To Complete Durian Cardboard Case If Evidence Has Been Found

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is urged to immediately resolve the durian cardboard case that ensnared PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin. This must be done to prevent the anti-corruption commission from being political.

"It will be even more political if this case is not resolved. As long as there is evidence, it must be resolved," said Boyamin Saiman, Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI).

Boyamin believes that the KPK must firmly investigate this corruption allegation. As long as they have the will, whoever is involved in the durian cardboard scandal should be able to account for their actions.

Moreover, the recipients of the money have already been mentioned in the indictment read out at the Corruption Court. Thus, the KPK should not be difficult to follow up on the alleged bribery case.

"I believe that if the KPK has the will, it will be easy to dismantle this case because in fact there is evidence in the form of money that has been packaged to be handed over," he said.

Meanwhile, the KPK has ensured that it will have sufficient evidence before conducting an investigation. The facts of the trial of the former Director General of the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration (Kemenakertrans) Jamaluddien Malik will also be investigated.

"What legal facts were revealed in the trial process as well as the adequacy of the evidence, we will see later," said KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata as quoted from the Indonesian KPK YouTube, Thursday, November 3.

Alexander doesn't want to talk much about the plan to investigate the durian cardboard scandal. Moreover, the KPK is still studying the verdict in this case.

"Is the name in question included in the decision of Article 55 which has been inkracht, of course (to be seen, ed). (Because, ed) it could be that involvement was mentioned at the first level, then compared to that name does not exist, there is no appeal. That could be," he insisted.

"Later we will see the decision which has permanent legal force. To what extent the judge's decision concerns the person concerned," continued Alexander.

For information, the durian cardboard scandal was revealed in a bribery case trial at the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration (Kemenakertrans), which has now changed its name. At that time, Cak Imin became the Minister of Manpower and Transmigration.

At the trial, the Director General of the Directorate General of Transmigration Area Development (P2Ktrans) Jamaluddien Malik said Muhaimin received IDR 400 million. The money that came from budget cuts at the directorate in 2013 was then stored in a durian box.

Not only that but Cak Imin's name was also mentioned in the bribery case of the PUPR Ministry's infrastructure project in Maluku and North Maluku in the 2016 fiscal year.

In this case, Musa Zainudin, who once sat in a prison chair, said that he had given Cak Imin IDR 6 billion of the IDR 7 billion he received as a project fee. However, the money was given not directly but through Jazilul Fawaid, who at that time was the Secretary of the PKB Faction.
