This Morning, 20 Neighborhood Units In Jakarta Were Submerged By Floods Of Up To 1.2 Meters

JAKARTA - Rain that hit Jakarta and its surrounding areas on Tuesday, October 25, until the early hours of Wednesday, October 26, caused flooding in 20 Neighborhood Units (RT) in the capital city.

The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) noted that as of 06.00 WIB, a number of RTs were flooded up to 120 centimeters (1.2 meters).

"BPBD noted that previously inundation occurred in 12 RTs, now there are 20 RTs or 0.066 percent of the 30,470 RTs in the DKI Jakarta area," said the Head of DKI Jakarta BPBD Isnawa Adji in a statement, Wednesday, October 26.

Isnawa said that the rain had also increased the alert status of the Katulampa Dam to Alert 3 (Alert), Depok Post Siaga 3 (Alert), and Manggarai Sluice Gate 3 (Alert).

Isnawa continued, his party mobilized personnel to monitor inundation conditions in each area and coordinate elements of the Natural Resources Service, Bina Marga Office, Gulkarmat Service to carry out inundation suction and ensure the water lines function properly together with the local lurah and sub-district heads.

"The inundation is targeted to recede in a short time," he said.
