Basarnas Finds The Body Of Seventh Victim Of Gold Mine Landslide In Kotabaru, South Kalimantan

BANJARBARU - The Banjarmasin Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas) has found the bodies of the seven victims of the landslide at the gold mine site in Buluh Kuning Village, Kotabaru Regency, South Kalimantan.

"The victim in the name of Bulkani was found today at 15:10 WITA," said Al Amrad, head of the Banjarmasin Search and Rescue Office in Banjarbaru, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, September 29.

On the third day of searching, the victim was found after the joint SAR team saw flies swarming at one point in the landslide area.

Officers and volunteers immediately carried out excavations at that point until they found the body after 20 minutes of excavating.

To help search for the remaining four victims who have not been found, the joint SAR team received the help of heavy equipment excavator PC 135 from PT. Pelsart Mine Kencana.

Basarnas also dispatched an additional team of seven people to assist in the search and evacuation process.

Amrad acknowledged that the increase in personnel strength was due to the difficult terrain with limited tool shifts so that they only relied on the manual search process.

It is known that the landslide of the people's gold excavation on the slopes of the turtle mountains in Buluh Kuning Village on Monday (26/9) claimed 17 victims and 13 have been found, seven of whom died. The other four are still being sought.
