MAKI Asks Lukas Enembe To Respond To KPK's Summon To Explain Allegations Of Corruption That Ensnared Him

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) has asked Papuan Governor Lukas Enembe to fulfill the summons of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Lukas is expected to provide an explanation regarding the alleged corruption that ensnared him.

"If you're not sick, please come to the KPK to explain the main point of the case related to the alleged IDR 1 billion or IDR 560 billion according to the PPATK statement or other money, PON funds for example, or scholarship funds for example," said MAKI Coordinator Boyamin Saiman in his statement to reporters, Monday, September 26.

Lukas, Boyamin continued, can argue with investigators if he feels innocent about the alleged corruption that ensnared him. However, he has to fulfill the summons for an examination because this usually happens during the investigation process.

"So, those are the sequences that Lukas Enembe can do as well as what the KPK can do," he said.

As previously reported, Lukas Enembe will be called up again for the second time on Monday, September 26. On the first call, the Governor of Papua was not present due to illness.

However, his attorney, Stefanus Roy Rening, stated that the client would not attend due to illness on Monday, September 26. This was conveyed by him when he came to the KPK's Merah Putih Building on Friday, September 23.

"You are not allowed to attend on Monday. So we ask that the Governor be cooperative, so we come early to convey this because the doctor's health development according to the doctor has decreased a bit," he said at that time.

In addition, he also asked Lukas to be allowed to go to Singapore for treatment. This governor had a stroke and claimed he could not speak.

Stefanus even specifically asked President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to give permission. Moreover, Luke's current condition is called worrisome.

"With the poor condition, with the governor's health condition, on behalf of the legal team, I ask President Jokowi to give him permission for treatment abroad," he said.

"Our legal team views that if these steps are not taken by the state, the atmosphere in Papua will be not harmonious," concluded Stefanus.
