High DHF Cases, Asmat Regency Government Asks Central Government To Step In

JAYAPURA - The Asmat Regency Government expects assistance from the central, provincial, and surrounding districts because the stock of fogging and abate materials has been running low.

Head of the Surveillance and Immunization Section of the Asmat Health Office, Darsono, Surveillance Darsono in Jayapura, Sunday, July 24, said that now the distribution of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) cases in Asmat Regency has increased to 70 cases as of July 21, 2022.

"This number has increased, since July 13, where there were 52 cases of dengue fever," he said.

According to Darsono, there is only 1 liter of fogging material left. Previously, his party received a loan from Merauke Regency as much as 10 liters and Mimika 10 liters.

"We also received assistance with fogging materials from the Papua Provincial Health Office, but the materials have not yet arrived in Asmat because they cannot use commercial aircraft and must use Hercules," he said, as quoted by Antara.

He explained that previously there was also abatement assistance of 300 bottles from the Provincial Health Office but now everything has run out.

"Even so, we continue to make efforts to prevent dengue, such as counseling residents, conducting epidemiological investigations by visiting homes, and checking water reservoirs," he said.
