JAKARTA - Turkey's Yörük 4x4 light armored ground vehicle has embarked on its first field mission in Africa. The vehicle is officially paved by touring the streets of Chad, the first African country to buy a Yörük 4x4.

Developed by leading Turkish land vehicle manufacturer Nurol Makina, the Yörük 4x4 was unveiled for the first time at the International Defense Industry Exhibition (IDEF) in 2017, reports Daily Sabah from Anadolu on May 22.

Nurol Makina meets the needs of allied countries as well as Turkey with 4x4 tactical armored vehicles (TWAV), such as the Yörük and Ejder Yaln, which are manufactured at modern facilities in the capital Ankara.

During development, testing, and production preparation activities for the Yörük 4x4, which was dubbed 'opening a new era in its class', the company received requests from many countries.

Before serial production was completed, the company had already signed the first export contract of Yörük 4x4. In total, there were four countries that signed the contract, with Chad being the prime export destination.

Designed for use by security forces and military units, the Yörük 4x4 offers the highest level of mobility and protection performance in the light armored vehicle class.

The vehicle is also capable of providing a high level of protection against ballistic explosives and mines or artificial mines, also customizable based on user preferences.

It is known, that a number of countries that use vehicles produced by Nurol Makina include Qatar, Kuwait, Hungary, Chile, Uzbekistan, and Senegal.

Hungary was the debut country of Nurol Makina's European branch earlier this year, specifically a member of the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Hungary chose Nurol Makina to replace the Soviet Union's war vehicles and equipment in 2019.
