JAKARTA - Israeli troops shot dead a Palestinian teenager in the occupied West Bank on Friday, May 27, according to a Palestinian Health Ministry statement.

The 15-year-old was shot in the neck and back in the town of al-Khader near Bethlehem, becoming the second teenager to be killed this week.

The Israeli military said it responded with live fire when a number of suspects hurled stones and Molotov cocktails at soldiers "who routinely provide security" in the area.

The Israeli military added that the incident was being investigated. It was not immediately clear whether the teenager was involved in the clashes.

The killings "are part of a series of crimes and executions carried out by the occupation forces," the Palestinian Ministry of Health said in a statement.

Separately, Israeli forces also injured more than 200 people during a protest near the West Bank city of Nablus on Friday, the Palestinian Red Crescent said in a statement.

Since the start of this year, Israeli forces or armed civilians have killed at least 46 Palestinians, including insurgents, lone attackers and pedestrians.

Data compiled by the Protection for Children International-Palestine (DCIP) shows that at least eight of the victims were children.

Since March, Palestinians have killed 18 people including civilians, police and security guards in attacks in Israel and the West Bank.
