3,562 Joint Personnel Deployed, Ascension Of Isa Almasih In North Sumatra Goes Solemnly

SUMUT - Commemoration of the Ascension of Jesus Christ in North Sumatra (North Sumatra) was solemn and conducive on Thursday, May 26. A total of 3,562 joint personnel were deployed for security in North Sumatra.

"The deployment of thousands of joint personnel to create a safe and conducive situation for the Commemoration of the Ascension of Jesus Christ in North Sumatra," said Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatran Police, Kombes Pol. Hadi Wahyudi, in Medan, North Sumatra, quoted from Antara, Thursday, May 26.

Hadi said the personnel carried out security duties at the Protestant church as many as 3,090 personnel and the Catholic church as many as 472 personnel.

There are 1,954 churches in North Sumatra that carry out the Commemoration of the Ascension of Jesus Christ, consisting of 1,735 Protestant churches and 219 Catholic churches.

Meanwhile, the number of church congregations who took part in the Commemoration of the Ascension of Jesus Christ was 350,909 people, which were divided into 296,594 Protestant churches and 54,315 Catholics.

"It is hoped that with the presence of personnel to protect the congregation, carrying out the Commemoration of the Ascension of Jesus Christ will feel safe and comfortable," he explained.

The Head of Public Relations added that so far, the situation for the Commemoration of the Ascension of Jesus Christ in North Sumatra is running quite conducive. However, personnel still continue to provide security in the field.

Monitoring in the field, personnel from the Mobile Brigade Unit of the North Sumatra Police carried out security sterilization at a number of churches in Medan City, the capital city of North Sumatra Province.
