JAKARTA - Ustaz Abdul Somad alias UAS answered all the accusations that were used as the reason the famous Indonesian preacher could not enter Singapore.

UAS explained that the reason he was not allowed to enter Singapore was an old controversy that was being discussed again. The Ustaz from North Sumatra clarified it with constitutional law expert Refly Harun.

"About the controversial issues that were shown to me, everything has been clarified, just write it on www.youtube.com [insert keyword] UAS clarification, after that write what the problem is", said UAS quoted from the YouTube account Refly Harun, Thursday, May 19.

In more detail, UAS explained the content of his lecture about suicide bombings, which the Singapore government did not tolerate. He emphasized that his lecture was in the frame of the problems that are being faced by the Palestinian people.

"The issue of suicide martyrdom, I explained was the context in Palestine, when the Palestinian army did not have any tools to retaliate against Israeli attacks. And it was not my opinion, which explained the opinion of the ulema, and in the context I explained it in the mosque, answering the congregation's questions", said UAS.

When the congregation asked, 'What about the problem in Palestine?'. 'Don't answer. If the answer is I can't go to Singapore.' I'm an intellectual, I'm a doctoral professor, a lecturer", he joked.

Next, UAS explained the problem that the statute contained a genie. He said it was in the hadith of the prophet.

UAS then recited the hadith narrated by Bukhari and Muslims: 'Indeed angels will not enter a house in which there is a statue.'

Completing it, UAS also tells about the statue of al-Uzza which was inhabited by female jinn in the eighth year of Hijriyah. The genie in the statue was then killed by Khalid bin Walid.

"That's why there are no statues in Muslim homes", said UAS.

"Asked by the congregation, I answered", he added.

Regarding the problem of frequently pronouncing infidel, UAS said that the word 'kafir' has the meaning of 'deny'. He admitted that he would still use it in his lectures.

"Anyone who does not believe that Prophet Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, then he is an infidel. And I am an infidel, I do not believe in the invitation of the devil and the devil, so I am an infidel. A disbeliever in that disbeliever. A disbeliever is a disbeliever", said UAS.

"It's time for us to eliminate religious terms just because we don't want other people to be offended", he continued.

"Later on, if a country prohibits people from giving lectures that say pork is haram, alcohol is haram, then a regulation can be issued, 'You can't, why? Because you say alcohol is haram because we like to drink alcohol. You are not allowed to enter our country because we are gay. and lesbians, you refuse that?" he said.

Behind the problems regarding the content of his lectures, UAS asserts that he has received knowledge up to the level of higher education. He also emphasized a teacher so that what was conveyed was not arbitrary or arbitrary.

"Until now, I'm still a teacher. I'm a visiting professor at the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University. I still have a contract. I got honoris causa from the International Islamic University Between Nations Selangor, Malaysia. I'm a graduate, I'm an educator, a lecturer, I'm not someone who talks carelessly", he said.

As is known, Ustaz Abdul Somad alias UAS was refused entry to Singapore on Monday, May 16. Singapore's attitude towards the preacher was expressed by UAS in its official Instagram account, @ustadzabdulsomad_official.

UAS also became a byword. His name has become a topic of discussion on social media. Several politicians, members of the DPR, high-ranking institutions, and even the government have raised their voices.

Including the Ministry of Home Affairs in Singapore which gave an official statement containing the reasons why UAS was refused entry to the country on Tuesday, May 17. Following are the reasons for the Ministry of Home Affairs in Singapore:

1. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) confirmed that Indonesian preacher Abdul Somad Batubara (Somad) arrived at Singapore's Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal on May 16, 2022, from Batam with six traveling companions.

Somad was interviewed, after which the group was denied entry to Singapore and placed on a ferry back to Batam the same day.

2. Somad is known for spreading extremist teachings and segregation, which is unacceptable in Singapore's multi-racial and multi-religious society.

For example, Somad has preached that suicide bombings are legal in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and are considered "martyrdom" operations.

He (UAS) also made derogatory comments about members of other religious communities, such as Christians, by describing the Christian cross as the abode of "pagan jinns". In addition, Somad openly refers to non-Muslims as "infidels".

3. Entry of visitors to Singapore is not automatic or entitlement. Each case is judged on its own merits. Meanwhile, Somad tried to enter Singapore under the guise of a social visit.

The Singapore government takes seriously anyone who advocates violence and/or supports extremist teachings and segregation. Somad and his traveling companions were denied entry to Singapore.
