JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health stated that health workers from Indonesia are in great demand from other countries. This is evidenced by a number of collaborations related to the placement of workers from Indonesia in several countries.

Acting Director for the Utilization of Health Workers, Ministry of Health, Sugiyanto said, the utilization of health workers abroad is able to increase professionalism that is globally competitive.

“This is able to open up a lot of job opportunities. Later, the nurse is expected to be able to apply the experience and abilities gained while abroad to strengthen the Indonesian health system," said Sugiyanto in his statement, Thursday, April 21.

The cooperation in the placement of health workers in question includes the Ministry of Health facilitating the availability of a number of Indonesian nurses to work at the Ministry of Health hospitals in Saudi Arabia through an independent program.

In this case, the Minister of Health of Saudi Arabia proposes that the program in question can be carried out continuously on a G to G or intergovernmental basis.

Another collaboration, in 2021, as many as more than 160 selected nurses will be dispatched to the Netherlands to participate in education and training programs. The Dutch language and culture training phase has been held since early 2020 to prepare Indonesian nurses who will be dispatched to the Netherlands.

In addition, there is also cooperation between Indonesia and Japan, which began in 2007 through the signing of the Indonesia Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJEPA).

"There are 2 types of health workers needed by Japan, namely nurses and caregivers," said Ahmad Syahrudin, the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI).

Ahmad said, one of the requirements to become a nurse in Japan, among others, prospective workers must pass the national exam test and be given the opportunity to take national exams 3 times during the contract period.

“Similar to the placement program for Indonesian nurses to Germany, candidates must pass a competency test, national exam, and other requirements. In addition, candidates must also take a German language course before the exam," he explained.

Then, BP2MI is also opening the registration and selection of nurses for the G to G (Government to Government) program to Germany Batch II.
