Putin Gives 7,421,000 Rubles For The Family Of Soldiers Who Killed In Ukraine

JAKARTA - The losses suffered by Russian troops in their invasion of Ukraine are not small. The number of soldiers who died is still confusing, but many believe the number is not small.

President Vladimir Putin promised to pay 7,421,000 rubles or equivalent to IDR 970 million to all the families of soldiers who died in Ukraine.

Putin made this promise in a meeting with members of the Security Council. He delivered the opening speech as head of state broadcast by Russia's TV channel 24 as quoted by Novaya Gazeta, Friday, March 4.

Novaya Gazeta, as reported by VOA News, is one of the 10 media outlets that have been severely warned by Russian media regulators. Novaya Gazeta has been asked not to post any negative news about the war in Ukraine.

Before starting the meeting, Putin also invited all participants to observe a minute's silence in memory of the Russian soldiers who died in Ukraine. He also announced the posthumous conferment of the title "Hero of Russia" on a lieutenant from Dagestan, Nurmagomed Gadzhimagomedov.

According to Putin, the victim's family, in addition to insurance, will receive an additional payment - for 5 million rubles. Material assistance will also be provided to the injured: will receive more than 2 million rubles at a time, as well as a monthly allowance in case of disability. Additional benefits for the injured are also provided 3 million rubles each.

Putin said more than 500 of their soldiers were killed in a full-scale military operation. This is much different from the predictions of the Ukrainian government which said the death toll of Russian soldiers was much higher.

"Unfortunately, we suffered losses, and our duty is to support our military families who are fighting for our people, the Russian people", Putin said, calling the Ukrainians who resisted "extreme gangsters."

"To all the family members of all the Fallen Soldiers they will receive, they will receive insurance payments and every member of their family will receive financial compensation", Putin said during a virtual meeting with his security council.
