Regarding The Constitutional Court's Decision Influences Its Electability, Gibran: You Can See The Survey, I'm Not Following It

JAKARTA - The Mayor of Solo as well as the prospective vice presidential candidate (cawapres) Gibran Rakabuming Raka responded to his electability with the presidential candidate (candidate) Prabowo Subianto being affected by the decision of the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK).

He said that regarding the electoral impact of Prabowo-Gibran, it could be seen from the survey results. However, President Joko Widodo's eldest son admitted that he did not follow the results of the latest survey.

"If you have electability, you can see it at the survey institute. I don't follow it either," said Gibran in Solo, Central Java, Friday, November 10, quoted by Antara.

According to him, the existence of survey results for the Prabowo-Gibran pair is an encouragement. "If it's high, it will make us enthusiastic, if it's low, it's more enthusiastic too," he added.

As is known, the Constitutional Court granted the judicial review lawsuit Article 169 letter q of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Election regarding the requirements for the age of presidential and vice presidential candidates at least 40 years old or experienced as regional heads proposed by a student named Almas Tsaqibbirru Re A.

This continues to be a public debate and is considered a conflict of interest. A number of parties then reported alleged violations of the ethics of constitutional judges in the course of the decision on the presidential and vice presidential age limit case.

The Constitutional Court then responded by forming the Makamah Constitutional Honorary Council (MKMK). Based on the ethics trial, regarding the decision on the age limit for the presidential and vice-presidential candidates, the MKMK sentenced Anwar Usman to dismiss him from the position of Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court because he was proven to have violated severe ethics.

MKMK chairman Jimly Asshidiqqie stated that Anwar Usman was proven to have committed serious violations of the code of ethics and behavior of the constituting judge as stated in Sapta Karsa Hutama, the principle of impartiality, the principle of integrity, the principle of competence and equality, the principle of independence, and the principle of appropriateness and decency.

"Imposing sanctions for dismissal from the position of Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court to the reported judge," said Jimly at the Constitutional Court building, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, November 7.
