2 South Tangerang Residents Positive For Monkeypox

TANGERANG - As many as two residents of South Tangerang City, Banten Province were confirmed positive for monkeypox (Mpox/Mpox).

"It's true, there are two people with Mpox (in South Tangerang)," said South Tangerang Mayor Benyamin Davnie, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 30.

According to him, with the two cases of Mpox sufferers in his area, data collection is currently being carried out by the South Tangerang City Health Office.

"I also asked for the data (Tangsel Health Office) to be traced," he said.

However, Mayor Benjamin did not confirm further about the patient's condition or the specific location of the case in South Tangerang.

Previously, the Head of the Communication and Public Service Bureau of the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said that the number of monkeypox cases in Indonesia had increased to 21 from the previous 16 cases.

"There are additional cases, now 21 cases are in DKI Jakarta, South Tangerang and Bandung," he said.

The number of cases experienced an increase from the report as of October 27, 2023, reaching 17 cases, all of which came from DKI Jakarta.

Nadia said the results of close contact tracing of the 21 additional cases were all still negative.

"The contact results are still negative," he said.
