Stick Cone Revealed A Lot, DKI Transportation Agency Affirms Still Maintaining Bike Paths
Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, emphasized that his party still maintains the barrier or stick cone for bicycle lanes that are still in good condition.
This answered criticism from a number of parties due to the dismantling of broken bicycle lane stick cones on several roads.
"The lifting of this stick cone does not eliminate the protected bicycle lane, but is part of the bicycle lane maintenance activity. Stick cones that are still good and functioning are maintained," said Syafrin in his statement, Friday, October 20.
The dismantling of stick cones on these 13 roads is 8.335 km or 41.45 percent of the total 20.110 km bicycle lanes that have been installed with stick cones. Currently, there are still 11.775 km of bicycle lanes protected by stick cones or 58.55 percent of the total length of bicycle lanes protected by stick cones.
Syafrin revealed that the bike lane stick cone was dismantled due to damage due to being hit by a motorized vehicle and it was unknown when it happened.
This was followed by public complaints in the CRM system to be followed up by the Transportation Service because the stick cone was damaged, so it was done with the lifting of the stick cone.
The DKI Transportation Agency also checked directly as an evaluation of the bicycle lane which is also a work program this year. The results of a survey by field officers who mobile carried out maintenance of the bicycle lane that there was a stick cone damaged when hit by a motorized vehicle.
"The broken stick cone revocation is a step to ensure the safety of cyclists and other road users on the road so that traffic accidents do not occur," he explained.
Previously, the Chairman of Bike to Work (B2W) Indonesia Fahmi Saimima expressed his disappointment over the demolition of the bicycle lane stick or stick cone on 13 roads in Jakarta.
The gradually lifted bicycle lane barriers were carried out on Jalan Army Students, Jalan Kramat Raya, Jalan Hos Cokroaminoto, Jalan Ahmad Yani, Jalan DI Panjaitan, Jalan Purification.

"We are really very disappointed and this can be called governance malpractice," Fahmi told reporters, Wednesday, October 18.
Fahmi said that the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency did not carry out the mandate in Regional Regulation Number 7 of 2012 concerning Public Infrastructure, Facilities and Utilities.

If the reason for dismantling the stick cone on the bicycle lane is done so as not to endanger motorists, Fahmi said this would not make sense.
"The reason is unacceptable. The bicycle lane has gone through a long road of study, even supervision is carried out with international institutions," he said.
