Spread In Fire, 3 People Died In A House Fire In Sijunjung, West Sumatra
As a result of an electrical short, two housing units in densely populated settlements in the Parik Rantang area, Kunpar, Kemang Baru, Sijunjung, West Sumatra, experienced a fire, Monday, October 16 evening. 3 people were killed in this fire incident.
The fire caused two housing units to catch fire, one being a permanent house and the other being a semi-permanent unit, so that three homeowners were trapped in the flames and died, while one person suffered burns and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.
In addition to claiming lives, this fire also resulted in other damage, such as two cars and six charred motorbikes, as well as valuables belonging to the victim.
The Sijunjung Regency Fire Department received a report and immediately went to the scene. They found the fire growing, thus lowering 10 fire engines with 70 personnel.
The fire was successfully extinguished after the 30-minute extinguishing process with the help of residents. Firefighters were also assisted by the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in evacuating three victims who were trapped in a burning house.
The Head of Kemang Baru Sub-district, Sijunjung, Asrijal, said that a severe fire hit Parik Rantang at night at around 22.30 WIB, which made local residents panic and reported casualties.
"When there was a fire, two houses caught fire, inside there were four house owners who were trapped. Three people died, and one person suffered burns and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital," he said.

Local residents tried to extinguish the fire, but their efforts were in vain because the fire was too big.
"The owners of the houses were trapped because they fell asleep during the fire. The fire was suspected to have been caused by an electrical short from one of the houses at the scene," he explained.
