Kaesang Joins PSI, Senior PDIP: Political Parties Must Be The Same As The Core Family

JAKARTA - Senior PDIP politician Hendrawan Supratikno responded to the news of the joining of President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) son-in-law, Kaesang Pangarep to the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). He reminded about the existence of provisions in PDIP regarding the similarity of political choices in the nuclear family. "What I know is that in the PDIP environment there is a requirement for the same choice in the nuclear family," said Hendrawan when contacted, Friday, September 22. "This provision is to avoid deviation and anomaly of ethics, commitment and discipline," he continued. As is known, the Kaesang family is a PDIP cadre starting from his father, a older brother who is a Solo mayor, to a brother-in-law who currently serves as the mayor of Medan. Even so, Hendrawan said, his party would first confirm the news. He hopes that Kaesang will not rush in determining political choices. "Our hope is that political choices do not have to be made in the psychology of rush. Ora is serious, there is usually a dialect cycle before making a decision," said Hendrawan. But if Kaesang still chooses to join PSI, Hendrawan said, PDIP would make Jokowi's youngest son's decision an important note. "If it is a mature choice of Kaesang's political maturity, of course it must be accepted and an important note for us," said Hendrawan.

Previously, President Jokowi had responded to the question of his second son Kaesang Pangarep who reportedly entered PSI. Jokowi emphasized that whatever was decided by Kaesang was his own responsibility. "Yes, it's normal in the family to ask for blessing. Because I said I wouldn't even walk. My children are like that," said Jokowi in the capital city of the archipelago (IKN), East Kalimantan, Thursday, September 21.
