BP2MI Helps Repatriation Of The Bodies Of Trenggalek Residents Victims Of Indonesian Citizens Brawl In Taiwan

TRENGGALEK - Migrant Worker Protection Service Center (BP3MI) is ready to help facilitate the repatriation of the bodies of Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) from Watulimo, Trenggalek, East Java who died in a brawl between groups of fighters in Taiwan, Saturday (2/9).

"We will certainly facilitate the return of the bodies from Soekarno-Hatta Airport to Juanda to the funeral home. We are also coordinating with the Trenggalek Disperinaker and the police," said Head of BP3MI East Java, Titis Wulandari at the funeral home in Karanggandu Village, Watulimo District, Trenggalek, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, September 7.

But when the repatriation of the bodies could be done, Titis could not confirm it to the family. The reason is, the incident is currently still being handled by the police in Taiwan.

According to a Taiwan News report, 15 PMIs have reportedly been named as suspects, out of 29 people arrested.

The fifteen suspects have now been transferred to the Changhua District Prosecutor's Office for investigation on charges of murder, assault and participating in deadly fights.

"It's still in the process of deepening and examining, we don't know how long it will take. We continue to coordinate," he said.

BP3MI will also provide legal assistance for PMIs involved in clashes.

However, for PMI legal assistants involved in clashes outside the train station in Changhua City, his party has fully handed over to the government, in this case the Indonesian Trade and Economic Office (KDEI) in Taipei. Including steps to anticipate similar incidents to occur, considering that the clash between PMIs is not the first time this has happened.

"Regarding legal assistance, we will submit it to the government. Including we will coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Manpower regarding the activities of our PMI workers there," he said.

Confirmed separately, the Head of the Trenggalek Regency Industry and Manpower Office, Heri Yulianto, stated that until now his party had not received official information about the cause of Jaenal Fanani's death in Taiwan.

Even so, he continued, his party had collected data on the management of the body's return, especially those related to the power of attorney.

"We collect data and information even though it is still informal, the victim is not officially a resident of Trenggalek. Requests for the SurabayaUPTP2TK (Disnakertrans) platform to facilitate the management of the power of attorney, are needed to manage the body and return home," he said.

Informal information that he received, the return of Jaenal Fanani's body must wait for the court's decision there. Meanwhile, for the time being, his party has not been able to confirm.

On the other hand, his party received a message fromprivilegedI to withhold illegal information that was feared to cause unrest.
