The DKI Air Pollution Handling Task Force Is Officially Formed, This Is Their Task
JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono officially formed an Air Pollution Control Task Force. This is stipulated in Governor Decree (Kepgub) Number 593 of 2023 concerning the Air Pollution Control Task Force.
In his statement, Heru said the Air Pollution Control Task Force, which is filled by the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government, is tasked with developing comprehensive policies to deal with air pollution problems.
"Previously, we DKI Jakarta Provincial Government have made various efforts to reduce pollution. With the formation of this Task Force, it is hoped that the good work that has been done so far can run more intensively and optimally, so that it can be completed quickly," said Heru quoted on Tuesday, September 5.
The Task Force is chaired by DKI Jakarta Secretary for Development and Environment Assistant Afan Adriansyah Idris. Meanwhile, the task force spokesperson, Acting Head of DKI Jakarta Health Service Ani Ruspitawati.
In this case, the Task Force will also evaluate and review the various policies that have been implemented so that they are right on target and able to effectively deal with air pollution problems.
More specifically, the scope of work of the Air Pollution Control Task Force includes:
1. Create standard operating procedures for handling air pollution in DKI Jakarta Province.
2. Controlling air pollution from industrial activities.
3. Periodically monitor air quality conditions, to the health impacts of air pollution.
4. Carry out prevention of pollutant sources, both from mobile sources and immovable sources, including sources of disturbance as well as handling emergencies.
5. Implement mandatory emission tests for motorized vehicles.
6. Rejuvenating public transport and developing environmentally friendly transportation for public and government transportation.
7. Increase open space, green buildings, and promote tree planting.
8. Increase community participation in improving air quality
9. Carry out supervision of compliance with permits that have an impact on air pollution and take action against air pollution violations.
Furthermore, Spokesperson for the Air Pollution Control Task Force Ani Ruspitawati said, there were a number of efforts that had been prepared and implemented by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to improve air quality.
"Efforts that have been made are in the short, medium and long term, involving cross regional apparatus organizations (OPD) DKI Jakarta such as the Environment Service, Health Service, to related stakeholders to deal with declining air quality in Jakarta," explained Ani.

In recent times, the DKI Jakarta Province Environment Agency has imposed sanctions in the form of temporary suspension of business activities for coal warehousing and storage (stockpile) companies that have been proven to have not complied with environmental management rules.
"Then, law enforcement for emission test obligations in the form of paid tickets has also been carried out," she said.
